This is THE HAMMER....the hammer is a big air-hammer...that acts like a hammer, but puts lots of pounds of pressure on your red hot metal...you simply put it between the two "dies" or blocks, and step on the treddle at the base and it comes down..."WHAM!!!"...It is not a good idea to have yer hands there when it does....
This big behemouth is my life right now....We started forging on an actual anvil with a hammer, but have moved on to the Beast, to deal with issues of getting things done faster...alot of people in this class are interested in making this a career, and in a career, time=money, and speed=money faster.....ENTER THE HAMMER.... There are 2 of these in the shop, but this is the heavyweight....
My days are accompanied by the CHUFF CHUFF CHUFFING of the machine, like an asmatic with a slightly metalic rasp to his weezing....
At unsuspecting moments, I will catch myself tapping my toes to the beat of this machine...if I am here long enough I may never be able to stop....tapping....help...
I must go now, and pay hommage to the Beast.....
