Week Three....
It's getting hotter....Sunday was a ghosttown here....everyone running off to do stuff....I made myself spend time in the studio.....
Some of the guys in Iron decided they wanted to build a smoker, and bbq...I didn't know, in the south, you smoke and bbq at the same time to add flavor...I am used to smoked salmon and that's it....So they whipped this bbq up in a day....
...that's the smoker on the end...the lower, extra cylinder...pretty amazing...
....meanwhile I worked on my lil' projects.....including this coat/towel hook...I was pretty proud, as I was learning how to split the metal, and "upset" the end to make the balls for the towels....
...But it wasn't to be...I started to close the shop, as I was the only one left...and left the iron in the fire too long...and as it was thin...when I came back to pull it out and bend it into hooks...it was sparking and white hot...and only half of it came out of my coal fire....
The lesson is....WHAT YOUR METAL!!!
You never learn anything by doin' iy the right way I always say.....
Back to the ol' drawing board.........dammit...

about your hook-
gah!
i can't tell you
how many times
i did that kind

late at night!
they made that thing in one day?
damn, those dudes are hardcore.
back in art school we used to call the sculptors who hung out down in the studio "sculpture jocks".
seems like you are hanging out with a bunch of metal jocks.
sounds fun, though.
Sorry about your hook....it looks pretty neat, though. If at first you don't succeed......drink beer and try again later.
