AND ONE DAY, I AWOKE TO FIND I WAS IN NEW YORK CITY

That's how my memoirs will read at any rate....It really feels so random...THINK OF MOVING TO NYC....LIVING IN NYC... Can life really be that simple? It still surprises me...and I'll be doing something: walking about usually, and suddenly think: "WOW!! I'M LIVING IN NEW YORK CITY!"

I JUST SPENT THE 1ST NIGHT IN MY NEW APARTMENT

And I cannot believe it! It's HUGE!!! If I've learned one thing it is that people are full of shit!!! For years and years I had no interest in coming to this city, because a few well placed comments from individuals were taken too much to heart by me....I thought I would just spend all my time working just to squeek by in some little box...and that ain't no life for me, and so I thought I didn't want to live here like that...Well, perhaps I have been lucky, I don't know, but I have a gi-normous pad here, and I am paying the SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY I PAID IN SEATTLE!!! And my place is at least 3 to 4 times bigger(!!!)...I guess the point is: DON'T LET OTHER PEOPLE'S LIMITED VISION OF REALITY LIMIT YOUR REALITY AND IT'S POSSIBILITIES. YOU CAN GO ANYWHERE AND DO ANYTHING IF YOU REALLY WANT IT.... Of course, knowing my own special brand of Karma...The fates are probably getting together right now to whip up something esspecially frustrating and miserable for me, just to knock me back in line....

So, this is the view from my lofty perch...on the eighth floor, by the Hudson river...up on 141st street and Riverside Drive...in Harlem...I had to go thru some bullshit to get here too:

First, living with some lame roomates, who screwed me over, and I had to move from BENSONHURST....well, and glad to be rid of my sad landlord downstairs...a suspicious, sour old lady...

Then, in a hurry...moved to lovely BUSHWICK...in east Brooklyn....where people drive by your place at 4 am blaring their favorite music...'cause they want to share it with you....(at 4am!!!) Same goes for your downstair neighbor...and everyone is deaf, 'cause they are all yelling at each other from down the street at the top of their lungs...or let their car alarms continue to go off....instead of fixing the damn thing...etc.

And then a coworker calls you and says some guy needs a roommate (a painter from Serbia), and you go to check the place out, hoping it is as cool as it sounds, but trying not to get yer hopes up, 'cause you already looked at a couple places....and are getting a bit discouraged...and then you see it's right by the river....and it is really amazing...shabby, but amazing..in a BLADE RUNNER/ BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB kinda way....

And there you is....

And you are happy for something cool in your life again and you can stop wondering why you left so many great friends, and a great apartment, and some really great jobs...And you really are living in new york city....(!!!!).
